About Coach Darlene Marshall

Darlene is a holistic wellness coach, speaker, writer, & Thought Leader based in New York City.

Raised in Upstate New York, Darlene was competitive in basketball and volleyball and found a passion for rugby in college.  She was unfortunately injured in 2005, and those injuries languished.

After years of suffering from joint pain, fatigue, and weight gain, in 2007 Darlene was diagnosed with Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - a genetic disorder effecting the body’s connective tissue.  She was warned at that time that her athletic life was ending and she'd be sedentary going forward.  Instead of giving in to her prognosis, Darlene fell back on her athlete's mentality: hard work, practice, and finding what you can accomplish through consistent effort.  5 years into her recovery Darlene was running 5k's, rock climbing, resistance training, hiking, and doing nearly everything she'd been told she'd "never do again".

Darlene transitioned this journey into to a career in fitness and has been working as a certified Personal Trainer since 2011.  Darlene guides her clients to affect personal change by coaching habits around sleep, movement, meditation, mindset, yogic practice, resistance training, self myofascial release, and the client's daily routines.

The path of wellness lead her to study well-being, and Darlene is expecting to complete her Master’s Degree in Applied Positive Psychology in 2020. She’s currently teaching workshops and seminars on self care, sleep, positive communication, and other domains that help individuals to flourish in their hectic modern lives.
